Study Group on Ruminants and Forage Production of the Amazon
Meetings
GERFAM holds weekly meetings on Tuesdays in the Professional Animal Science building to discuss the progress of the group's activities, as well as scientific discussions and presentations of seminars on topics of interest to the group. Each member or group of members has a role in some activity or in some sector, and is responsible for the progress and success of the activity and for the integrity of the sector or infrastructural component in which the group works. The meetings are divided into Scientific Meetings, which are open to the public, and Administrative Meetings, which are aimed only at group members. The location and time are announced weekly on the group's social networks.
Scientific discussions are held with the participation of everyone and address topics related to teaching, research and extension activities. At the end of each meeting, a member is constantly chosen or volunteers to present papers or seminars to the other members at the next meeting. We believe that these habits create an environment for reflection on theories and technologies related to the focus of our studies. Each member must be aware of the importance of taking seriously their duties for the benefit of the group, keeping up to date and understanding the ongoing need to improve their professional skills and abilities through the use of tools such as the internet, specialized magazines in the area, research from universities and public agencies.
