Research Activities

The GERFAM prioritizes the development of integrated research in the areas of ruminant nutrition and forragiculture, focusing its efforts on sustainable development in the Amazon region.

Research in the area of forragiculture is directed towards the management, production, and conservation of forage plants used in the Amazon region. The group develops research aimed at intensifying production in already available areas, often in the process of degradation.

Research in ruminant nutrition is primarily developed in the productive chains of sheep farming, goat farming, cattle farming, and buffalo farming, both for meat and milk production. The group also conducts research on the utilization of by-products from agroindustries in the Amazon region.

The research is funded by public-private partnerships and through project approval by funding agencies.
