I GERFAM Lecture Series
Emphasis on Green Livestock Farming
To complement and assist in the training of students, by encouraging activities outside the classroom, the Study Group on Ruminants and Forage Farming in the Amazon (GERFAM) was formed, a university extension project regulated by the Office of the Vice-Rector for Extension (PROEX). In order to continue its activities, on October 9th and 10th, GERFAM will hold the 1st Lecture Series, with an emphasis on green livestock farming.
“Green Livestock Farming was created with the objective of establishing technical bases for a livestock activity with greater productivity per hectare, less environmental impact in order to reduce the risk of pressure on preservation areas and legal reserves. This involves the use of techniques such as the recovery of degraded pastures,” says Professor Aníbal Coutinho, coordinator of the Group. According to the coordinator, the event aims to encourage students to organize lectures and share experiences with researchers, thus encouraging differentiated knowledge that is not taught in the classroom.
Registration can be done in the Animal Science Hall and costs R$10 (for issuing a certificate). The event will take place at 6:00 pm in the Animal Science Professional Auditorium.
