Fermentative characteristics and nutritional value of corn silages produced with plants harvested at two heights, inoculated or not.

Proponent: Aníbal Coutinho do Rêgo; Felipe Nogueira Domingues, Cristian Faturi

Institution: Federal Rural University of the Amazon

Project objectives: Evaluate the effect of increasing the harvest height from 25 to 40 cm and bacterial inoculation with strains of Lactobacillus plantarum and Propionibacterium acidipropionici, in combination, on the fermentative characteristics and nutritional value of corn silages. Assessments regarding the chemical composition, fermentative characteristics, aerobic stability, yeast and fungal counts of the silages will be carried out using 24 silos with a capacity of 200 L each, in a completely randomized design, arranged in a 2 × 2 factorial scheme (25 or 40 cm × inoculated or not). Evaluations of average daily intakes (ADC), apparent digestibility coefficients (ADC), nitrogen balance and ingestive behavior will be evaluated using 24 male sheep, with an average body weight of 27 kg, in a randomized block design, arranged as follows: same way as in the previous test.
